It's been a while since my last blog update. My last post was done right before the holidays and my birthday and quite a bit has changed since then. The holidays and my birthday definitely did a number on my diet and exercise regimen. I wasn't watching what I was eating and since I was away from home for the holidays I ate very poorly and as such I gained a little bit of weight and fat around my midsection. I did get back into my gym routine in January and was unfortunately side lined due to stomach bugs on two separate occasions within a two week period. It most definitely took a hit on my motivation and drive. See the difficulty with this is that my drive and motivation is often based on how well I am feeling. So when I feel like crap because I can't get to the gym due to situations that are out of my control, my motivation plummets. I finally overcame that recently. I swallowed my pride and spoke to the personal trainer at my gym. He constructed a new workout plan for me which actually came into effect this week (on Monday) and I have felt soreness and progress that I haven't felt in quite some time. One thing I had come to realize was that I had hit a plateau with my progress and my workouts had become stale. In conversations with the trainer, my metabolism has slowed down due to the large volume that my own routine had involved. It was counterproductive to my goals. So fat loss had stalled and since I wasn't eating enough to sustain muscle building, I was at a stand still. Not making any progress as far as fat loss or muscle gain. It's humbling to know that I had to reach out for help. I know there are people who say that I didn't need a trainer, that I could have done it on my own. That may be true, but it was more of a "I wanted a trainer" situation. Its the perfect situation for me. He took my routine and restructured it to better suit my goals and needs. It is only Wednesday and my body is sore from top to bottom and its great to know that I will be hitting same body parts for a second time starting tomorrow. I am now on a 6 day routine hitting groups twice a week, which I had never thought to do. My motivation and drive is completely restored. I am excited to be hitting the gym and I am feeling great. I look in the mirror and am looking at myself with new eyes, a new perspective. I CAN DO THIS, I WILL DO THIS. With the trainer's help, I will move towards the next step of my journey and truly attain my goals. I am in a better place mentally and soon will be so physically.
I just want to take an opportunity to thank all of my supporters for believing in me when I don't believe in myself. For pushing me to continue on when my motivation is wavering. I am strong, but my supporters make me stronger.
I will be making posts more often now that my motivation is at an all time high and I am so much more inspired to write.
